Dealing with a concussion, Mitchell Robinson will miss his second-straight game as the New York Knicks play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Mitchell Robinson took a blow to the head against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, resulting in a concussion. The New York Knicks will be without their center on Sunday, per the team’s PR department.

Robinson’s minutes are down to around 18 per game this season. The lanky center is falling victim to early foul trouble and taking himself out of the game far too often. It’s something that he’ll need to work through on the court.

Unfortunately, the injury bug hasn’t been kind to the Louisiana native this year. Robinson is set to miss his second game with this concussion, however, this is the third game he’ll miss this season. He sat out the season opener against the San Antonio Spurs with a sprained right ankle.

Taj Gibson started in place of Robinson against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday and he played a key role in the upset. Gibson’s ability to keep the defense organized kept the Knicks from falling victim to the potent Dallas offense.

While Gibson doesn’t offer the same rim protection that Robinson does, his savvy and smarts were on full display in the victory. It’s almost a certainty that head coach David Fizdale will stick with Gibson in the starting lineup on Sunday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (3-5) and Kevin Love will look to secure their fourth win of the season on Sunday in Madison Square Garden. Meanwhile, the Knicks are trying to build off of a stunning victory over Kristaps Porzingis and the Dallas Mavericks.
