Seton Hall G Myles Powell named AP Preseason All-American

Seton Hall’s Myles Powell is coming into the season with sky-high expectations after being named to the AP Preseason All-America Team.

Seton Hall basketball is in a great place right now and much of their success can be attributed to Myles Powell. The 6-foot-2 guard decided to come back for his senior season and he’s racking up preseason honors left and right.

After being named Big East Preseason Player of the Year, Powell was named to the AP Preseason All-America Team. He is joined by fellow Big East guard Markus Howard of Marquette, Louisville’s Jordan Nwora, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston, and Memphis freshman James Wiseman.

As a junior, Powell averaged 23.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He is exactly the type of guard who can carry a team to success deep into March. That being said, the Pirates have gone to four straight NCAA Tournaments with only one win to show for it.

For head coach Kevin Willard, this is undoubtedly his most talented roster at Seton Hall. Willard’s squad is coming into the season ranked 12th in the AP preseason poll. Powell is a legitimate contender for the Wooden Award and he’s one of four starters returning for the Pirates this season.

Seton Hall has won 20-plus games in four-straight seasons, but the expectations are much higher this season. With Powell leading the charge, the Pirates are looking to make their mark in the Big East and beyond.

Watch out for those pesky Pirates down in South Orange, NJ. They open their season on Nov. 5 against Wagner College (6:30 p.m. ET).
