New York Yankees outfielder doesn’t expect to undergo Tommy John surgery heading into the offseason despite doctor’s recommendation.

In August, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks experienced a big-time setback when he went down with an elbow injury. It caused him to miss the final 52 games of the regular season as well as the American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins.

However, Hicks rehabbed quick enough to be able to return to the lineup for the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros. He was eventually put into the starting lineup due to an injury to Giancarlo Stanton and finished 2-for-13 in the series with a home run and three RBI.

However, will he need Tommy John surgery in the offseason because of the prior injury? Not likely, at least according to him.

“Right now, it feels all right,” Hicks said after losing the series to the Astros in six games, per Mike Axisa of CBS Sports. “For me right now, I don’t see myself having Tommy John. I was throwing the ball around pretty well. So I don’t think so.”

The Yanks’ season came to a close when Astros second baseman Jose Altuve hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 6. Infielder DJ LeMahieu had previously tied the game in the top of the ninth with a two-run shot. Altuve’s home run was off closer Aroldis Chapman.

The Astros will thus head to the Fall Classic to take on the Washington Nationals. Game 1 of the World Series will begin on Tuesday night at 8:08 p.m. ET.
